Giving Back Through Junior Achievement as a Photographer in Katy TX

Why Community Matters to Me

Last month, I had the opportunity to visit a Kindergarten class at Jenks Elementary School through Junior Achievement, and it was such a meaningful experience. Being part of Junior Achievement is one of the ways I love giving back to our Katy community, not only as a Photographer in Katy TX, but also as a mom and small business owner who truly believes in investing in the next generation.

Junior Achievement focuses on helping students understand how our economy and society work in age-appropriate, engaging ways. These lessons plant early seeds about responsibility, confidence, and independence, and it’s honestly incredible to see how much kids absorb, even at such a young age.

Back in the Kindergarten Again

Just a few months ago, my oldest daughter started college, so walking back into an elementary school classroom for me felt like stepping into a time machine. It had been years since my own kids were that little, and being welcomed into a Kindergarten classroom again was both nostalgic and heartwarming.

There’s something really special about seeing kids at this stage of life. They’re curious, honest, and eager to learn how the world works. It reminded me just how important early education is and how much impact these lessons can have.

Learning About Goods, Services, and Earning Money

The Junior Achievement lesson focused on goods and services, and how people earn money to buy the things they want or need. We talked about simple examples that made sense to Kindergarteners, like chores at home, helping family members, and understanding the difference between something you make and something you do for others.

It was amazing to watch the lightbulbs go off as they connected everyday activities to bigger ideas about work, earning, and responsibility. Teaching kids that money doesn’t just appear, and that effort and contribution matter, is such an important foundation to build early on.

Why Experiences Like This Matter

As a business owner in the Katy area, I get to work with other business owners, my clients and community members every day. But being involved in programs like Junior Achievement allows me to give back in a different way, by supporting education and helping kids feel empowered and informed about their future.

Katy is such a special place to live and raise a family, and I’m proud to be part of a community that values education, growth, and connection. Moments like this remind me why supporting local schools and programs truly matters.

I’m so thankful to Junior Achievement, Katy ISD, and the wonderful students and teachers at Jenks Elementary for welcoming me into their classroom. It was an experience I won’t forget, and one I hope to continue being part of in the future.
