Team EmpowHER: Class of 2024
Team EmpowHER started in 2019 when I realized how empowering a photoshoot can be for a young lady. I was getting feedback from my senior mom clients that they had never seen their daughter look or feel more confident than they did at the shoot we did together and that confidence continued after the session.
I wanted to create an experience that could do MORE of that - how could I help empower young women through photography for more than just one session? Determined to figure out how to do just that, Team EmpowHER was born. In addition to the photoshoots and the individual senior session, we partnered with other small businesses in the community to. include a college application workshop, self defense class, and makeup lesson for the girls. All in an effort to help them launch into the next phase of life after high school.
The Class of 2024 is a very special group and we had some really amazing experiences this past year. Our first shoot was a meet and greet and Project Beauty Photoshoot. At this shoot, the girls don’t wear makeup going for an “all natural” look to showcase their beauty and confidence without all the “stuff” we sometimes feel is required. They nailed it.
We also had a holiday shoot at the beach and that was probably one of my most favorite shoots ever! The weather was sooooo nice and if you know me, you know that the beach is my happy place. The girls had a great time, we made some tiktoks on the beach and we did two different looks here - one very Christmas and one not! Floral and whimsical was the idea and we all loved how these photos turned out.
Special thanks for the moms for joining in on the Galveston shoot. Most our shoots are a little closer to home so it was super special that the moms could join us and even got in a photo or two.
We did another “two looks in one” photoshoot with our Galentine’s and Arcade shoot. The arcade shoot was something I had wanted to do for a long time and when we talked about it as a team, the girls were so excited! It was playful and fun and different!
Thank you to Main Event Katy for having us and for the card to play all the things after the shoot. We appreciate it!
Galentine’s Day portion of the shoot - these girls brought the fun and energy!! We had TS blasting and were feeling the Girl Power vibes for sure!
We also had our Self Defense Class hosted by Chris Pak of Master Pak’s Martial Arts in Katy. This is included for the girls on the team and then they all are allowed to invite a friend because the more women that know about self defense, the better.
Our final shoot was our cap and gown shoot -and those will be added soon. Be sure to check out the blog posts for each of the team members here: Lexie, Luci, Christiana and Kylie. Ah, Team 24 - this isn’t goodbye, just “see ya later” - know I will be cheering you on always! Love you, ladies!
