When is the best time to take your senior photos?

I often get asked the question: “When is the best time to take your senior photos” and the answer is this - first, think about what to do with your senior photos. In addition to creating albums, custom grad announcements, and gorgeous wall art college with me, what else will you be doing with the photo?

Do you need a quality ‘headshot’ to apply to college?

Do you need photos for your yearbook? Or yearbook ad?

Do you plan to use them for your grad party and college announcement?

All those senarios different deadlines so you need to plan your session accordingly. If you are trying to get your photos in your yearbook ad, your deadline for submitted photos is usually September or October - which means you need to have your session done before that. So, a summer session you say? But it’s so hot in Houston!

So may people think you can’t do you senior session in the summer and I am here to tell you - yes you can! You will have your hair and makeup done by a professional who knows how to deal with temperature and humidity - do don’t worry about that. The session is usually in June or early July because, yes, it does get very hot and uncomfortable in mid-July and August. I will for sure be a hot sweaty mess when it’s over but that doesn’t matter - it’s not my session.

Here are two sessions - one that was in the summer and one that was in the winter. Can you tell the difference?
