When was the last time you updated your headshots?

I cannot tell a lie. I cannot tell a lie. I cannot tell a lie. I cannot tell a lie.

It had been awhile (and I do this for a living)!

So I recently got my headshots done and of course you are thinking she’s gonna tell me to “get them done” and that I “need them for work and LinkedIn” and, yes, you do, but there’s more.

I focus on using photography to empower my clients. It is hard to explain how a photo session can empower you until you try it. Until you take the time to get in front of the camera and be slightly vulnerable. Invest time to plan outfits, all the way down to the shoes and jewelry, schedule pro hair and makeup and get to the actual session — that is a BIG DEAL when we are so busy with our lives, jobs, and families.

But, man, am I glad I did it. It had been on my to-do list for awhile but the empowering feeling during and after made me feel slightly unstoppable (as noted by the amount of selfies taken that day - haha). It was the boost I needed after such a crappy 18 months (can I get an amen!?)

And ladies (I am addressing you separately here for an important reason) - I have to tell you I didn’t wait til “I lost a few more pounds” to schedule this shoot. My jeans were tight! But honestly, form fitting is good for a photoshoot. Bigger clothes make you look bigger than you actually are. I can’t tell you how often I hear the “I gotta lose some weight” as a reason not to get photos done - family, headshots - or even just iPhone pics. I hear it a lot. And I completely get it. I do! But you have to GET IN THE PHOTO!

Here’s what I suggest - schedule the session. JUST DO IT as Nike says. Two weeks before the session, get your hair done. Spend a little more and get the highlights. Do whatever you want that makes you feel great. Mani and pedi? YUP! Then, let’s do this. A good photographer knows angles and understand we are not supermodels. We have muscles and fat and things we want to “play down” - we all have them no matter what our size. Talk to your photographer. When we started here, I told my photographer I don’t like a double chin (I’m tall and don’t want to be looking down at the camera, you know what I mean?). Communication is the key!

Between work and family responsibilities, we are all guilty of not putting ourselves first. But maybe it’s time? Plus, a branding and headshot sessions helps you in business to confidently put yourself out there. Plus, the whole experience makes you feel great! A win-win for sure!

Here’s a peek at a few of my headshots - can you tell I had a good time?

Let me know when you are ready - we will take care of your pro hair and makeup, help you with what to wear and show your how to pose. We got you!
